- Actually, adult fleas are the easiest to eradicate because lots of products made are focused on killing them, not the larvae, pupae and eggs. To reduce the number of flea larvae, remove the organic matter in rugs, furnishings or any other foods they might feed on. If they don’t have access to food, they die off.
- Before you move into a new house, carefully and thoroughly inspect the flooring and rugs for flea dirt, larvae egg or pupae. The former owners might have left them behind.
- If your pet is already infested, take him or her to a vet doctor for treatment. In the mean time, machine-wash the bedding at least once a week with hot water and a cup of lemon juice.
- Reduce the amount of time your pet spends outside because non-domesticated animals around your home might be infested and the fleas may jump on your pet outdoors.
- Vacuum the whole house everyday or at least four times a week to remove flea dirt and immature fleas.
